Whew! That was a long, intense, crazy, awesome tax season. This year we served over 900 hundred individuals and small businesses in helping with their tax needs. On top of that, I had twin boys on February 1, right in the middle of it all.
Now that we have had time to catch our breath, we are ready to jump back into things here. We have a ton of new, exciting things planned for the site and the business. Here is a preview of what’s to come.
Brand and Website Upgrade
We are currently working with an awesome design company to completely rebrand the business and website. While the actual tax prep will still be done by JDB Business Solutions, the website and other media outlets will now be know as The Accountrepreneur: Tax Talk for Treps.
As the name suggests, The Accountrepreneur is a combination of Accountant and Entrepreneur. We are more focused than ever to provide the best possible tax and accounting advice to entrepreneurs, especially those just getting started.
So in the next month or so you will see a brand new website, website name and logo. We can’t wait to unveil them!
Cross Country Move
At the end of this month, we will be making the move from Denver, Colorado to Willard, Ohio. Almost our entire family is located in Ohio and this will be a HUGE help with the twins.
While we will certainly miss our family, friends and the Colorado weather, we are really excited to head home. This won’t have much of an impact on the business, other than having more people to help with the boys will allow more time to work in the business.
Focusing on Core Clients
As I said above, this year we prepared over 900 tax returns. And while it feels good to help so many people, our strategy on that end is changing. Most of the 900 tax returns came as a result of helping another tax preparer with his client base.
We are dropping that this year and will only be taking between 100 and 200 clients so we can give 100 percent focus to them. We will also no longer be taking individual clients who don’t own a business. We are strictly working with entrepreneurs from this point forward.
This will free up our time to continue providing awesome, free content here even in the middle of tax season.
Launching a Podcast
Ah, this is what I’m most excited about! As most of you know, my most “famous” client is John Dumas of Entrepreneur on Fire, which is one of the top podcasts in the world. John has become a good friend through our work together and he has talked me into starting my own podcast.
In July of this year, The Accountrepreneur Podcast will launch where we will spend one day a week bringing you guests, such as former IRS agents and prominant business owners, who can offer you tax and accounting advice for your business. We will also spend one day a week asking your tax and accounting questions on air.
There will be plenty more details on this in the coming weeks, but we are extremely excited to get started.
Closer Aligned With Entrepreneur on Fire
As I said, John and Entrepreneur on Fire our one of our biggest clients and I have slowly been getting more and more involved with the Entrepreneur on Fire brand. You can now read my tax tips on the monthly income reports Entrepreneur on Fire provides.
Be sure to read the monthly income reports for the incredible inspiration they provide by showing you what’s possible and also for our awesome tax tips.
We are also now featured with our very own page on Entrepreneur on Fire’s website.
Entrepreneur on Fire is an amazing brand and business and we couldn’t be more proud to be associated with John and Kate. We highly recommend you check out their daily podcast.
